Business 1 Essay 24

I personally think that the Ron Paul Curriculum has many possible USP’s, but first what is a USP? USP stands for “Unique Selling Point” it defines the special characteristics of the add.

The first USP of the Ron Paul Curriculum is that it gets you through high school, and it gets you ready for college. The lesson videos actually teach you what you need to know, they get straight to the point. Students also have to write an essay at the end of every fifth video, which teaches students how to write good essay’s because topic’s are assigned. This is also another good thing because you can see each student talking about the same topic, but you can see their own personalities shine through their work, which in my personal experience motivates me to do the work. The Ron Paul Curriculum also tells you seven ways to get through college faster. The way that I am going to get through college faster is take SAT and CLEP test’s in high school and earn college credit.

The second USP is the world view. The Ron Paul Curriculum is a pro freedom curriculum that teaches students to think, act, have self-control, and manage themselves. This is not a bad thing, in the long run this has many benefits.

  1. When you grow up and leave the house they learn to self-manage their own time, and activities.
  2. You grow up to think through things. You never want to just jump in and buy the first car you see, so why would you not think through and spend time thinking through what you are going to say, what you wear, how you act. These three things are what people are going to judge you by. I am not saying that it is right to judge someone by their appearances, but that is how most people do determine if they are going to even say hello.

List 15 benefits of the Ron Paul Curriculum.

  1. It is self taught. I have to complete assignments and I have to choose to do it.
  2. It helps you become more self motivated. I was already self motivated, but when I started this curriculum I became even more self motivated. I am now doing three subjects, and ten lessons in three days or less.
  3. There are no textbooks. This was a help for my family because a lot of textbooks are expensive, and for this course all of the books combined were only around $40 – $50.
  4. Students can help each other. I have gotten feedback from my essay’s and it motivates me to keep writing.
  5. The lessons are no longer than half an hour. Time is precious and they understand that. I don’t have to spend forever on one subject and I don’t have to.
  6. It is inexpensive. Each course is only $50 plus a membership fee.
  7. It is Flexible. Even if I have to take a week off for some reason, the lessons are still there.
  8. The teacher’s/ professor’s have had experience. This is nice because I feel like I can put more trust in the curriculum.
  9. We learn writing skills. I have become a better writer, and feel really happy about it.
  10. They encourage speed reading. I was already a fast reader I used to read 500 words a minute and now I read 600 words a minute.
  11. They teach important life skills. Before I took the Personal Finance course I would sometimes save money but keep most of it. Now I am saving for a summer mission trip, and also just to save money.
  12. My parents don’t have to help me. A lot of parents have to help their kids with their school work and it is not a bad thing. But my parents have other responsibilities and they and I don’t want to have to be doing homework until 6:00.
  13. There is a diverse in the subjects. This is helpful because you can learn more life skills.
  14. You get to choose which subjects you do. Even though there is a suggested area with all of the courses, if you want to do a class higher or if you need to do a class lower it is fine, and no one judges.
  15. You learn time management skills. This is another helpful skill that you will need in life, and the entire course really makes you do this whether you realize it or not.

“Which of these ads best conforms to Joyner’s standards of an irresistible offer?”

First we have the M&M’s commercial. I thought that it was a pretty convincing commercial because now I have a craving for M&M’s. One thing that I appreciate about this commercial is that I really felt like they spent time on it. The little clip of animation was a nice touch. In the 1950’s Disney was the really big company that did animation, and it was very rare to see animation anywhere else. It did not tell me the price of the product, but I still felt like it would be a good investment of my time.

Next we have the Radio Shack commercial. It was a pretty short which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I still wanted to know a little bit more about the product. It told me it was a computer program to turn your screen into color, play games, it was educational, a home management tool, and an information service. I am still confused on what it means by an information service, and I want to know how it works. It was trying to target all ages of people and there it did succeed, but I want to know more about this product.

Here we have the Commodore Computer commercial. It tells me that it is hard to carry your personal computer around to work and back home. It then immediately goes into the product and how it can help you by keeping all of your work in that computer. It makes you want to know what the deal was and when he told me the deal I found myself thinking, “Hmmmm maybe I should consider?” I wanted a product that they were selling in the 80’s. If that isn’t convincing I don’t know what is.

Last we have the American Express commercial. It shows a man buying all sorts of things with the product and I did not really feel the need to buy it. I personally just don’t want a credit card, but it didn’t really tell me about the product, like how much it cost. You may be thinking, “But the M&M’s commercial didn’t tell you how much it cost and you still wanted it.” The M&M’s commercial made me want to buy it. The American Express commercial to me just looked like a man buying things with a credit card and racking up credit that he will later have too pay off.

So in conclusion the commercial I think that Joyner would be most proud of would be the Commodore commercial, but my favorite was the M&M’s commercial.
